Bound for Bollywood
GOLD Coast paramedic student Teigan Lloyd- Evans has started a crash course in Hindi after winning the reality talent search SBS Bollywood Star.
Lloyd- Evans ( pictured) was unveiled as the winner of Bollywood Star last weekend and now a career in the biggest movie industry in the world beckons.
The 24- year- old will be cast in a Bollywood movie by award- winning producer and director Mahesh Bhatt.
Lloyd- Evans first had to pass the audition process to make the list of finalists before travelling to India to meet Bhatt.
She also had to impress the judges filmmaker Anupam Sharma, Bollywood talent- spotter Raj Suri and Bollywood choreographer Dipti Patil to prove she was worthy of a Bollywood role.
‘‘ I’ve started learning Hindi and I am going to get a bit more professional with that and get a tutor and start to pick it up,’’ Lloyd- Evans said.
‘‘ I’m waiting to hear from Mahesh and when I do, I’ll accelerate my learning.’’
Lloyd- Evans is only six months into her paramedic career, which will be put on hold until later this year or early in 2013, when she makes the movie.
What is a little unclear is how big or small the role is.
SBS has assured the Queenslander it will definitely be a speaking part and not limited to a few mumbled words.
‘‘ It’s quite exciting and it could be a lead,’’ Lloyd- Evans said.
‘‘ The contract didn’t specify only a minor role and when I met him [ Bhatt] he said he would think about what role he’d like me to play.’’
An SBS spokeswoman said the role would be ‘‘ significant’’, giving Lloyd- Evans every reason to believe this break could lead to a career of substance.
While she is learning to speak Hindi, she has yet to enrol for acting lessons.
Lloyd- Evans has never been taught to act apart from a dalliance in drama class at high school.
‘‘ The acting over here is so different to acting over there, so I’m just waiting to see what Mahesh wants me to do,’’ Lloyd- Evans said.
‘‘ When you get a chance to go back to Mumbai and be part of a Bollywood film you want to get it right.’’
