Reheated pie

Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - Dvds -

GETTING the timing of a reunion just right is a delicate matter. Have one too early and the scars of high school are too fresh to enjoy going back. Leave it too long and you’re too embarrassed by your muffin tops and bald spots to rock up. Thankfully, the filmmakers of the American Pie franchise left it this long to reunite all the original cast for theirs, which has the gang back in their home town for the event and a general gettogether a few days earlier which results in lots of the series’ general sexy business and bawdy behaviour. The original film offered what has become the standard blueprint for modern, ‘‘ gross- out’’ teen- sex comedies but now the cast as well as that blueprint are looking a bit long in the tooth. It’s tolerable as a sort of last hurrah effort and some of the set- ups are humorous and work well for the characters, but it’s painfully sentimental and really only a reunion that diehard fans should attend. Extras: Deleted scenes and gag reel. NOT VIEWED.
