Most rhodo­den­drons rarely need prun­ing but if too strag­gly they are best pruned im­me­di­ately af­ter flow­er­ing. Fo­liage which has been at­tacked by thrips will have a sil­very ap­pear­ance. This is the best time of the year to cut off all in­fested branches. Be sure to clean up all pruned de­bris and take well clear.
