In the same week, 1.5 tonnes of choco­late landed on his door. That’s an aw­ful lot of choco­late to be tem­pered and hand crafted by him and his ap­pren­tice, Sarah Black, into what must be the best and most imag­i­na­tive range of sweet Christ­mas in­dul­gences in the state. They will have ev­ery­thing from kids’ Choco­gang pan­das, frogs, ducks, fish and tor­toises to 600cm- tall choco­late Fa­ther Christ­mases, small and large choco­late Christ­mas trees and choco­late ball dec­o­ra­tions, red and green ver­sions of Zito’s famed nougat, made from his own hazel­nuts, choco­late post­cards, ski­ing and snow­board­ing Otto and Speedie in choco­late and tra­di­tional Ad­vent boxes with choco­lates. There’s also the usual se­lec­tion and gift packs of their ex­quis­ite filled and moulded choco­lates. Only the nougat is avail­able at Com­mon Ground in Sala­manca, but the drive to Ket­ter­ing is worth it.
