ON this day 350 years ago, famed English di­arist Sa­muel Pepys wrote that he “drank a sort of French wine, called Ho Bryan that hath a good and most par­tic­u­lar taste that I never met with”. Al­most to the day, a group of Ho­bar­tians re­cently en­joyed a 1970 vin­tage of the same wine, with apolo­gies to Pepys, prop­erly called Haut Brion – at The Source at MONA. By all re­ports, it was a stunner and th­ese days a bar­gain at $ 400.
