OLDIE BUT A GOODIE
WHOLE forests have been sacrificed to writers going on about Australia’s “new” and “alternate” grape varieties. But, among all the tempranillos, sangioveses and arneises, you don’t hear much about the alicante- bouschet grape. Perhaps because, although not common, it’s not new. Here was a 378ml bottle of Alicante- Bouschet from Taminick Cellars in the Central Victoria, vintage 1975. Tiring a little after almost 40 years, but still giving great pleasure.
