Some garlic cloves harvested and stored last summer will now be showing signs of sprouting. These cloves can still be planted but it’s getting late. However, don’t include these sprouts when using garlic for cooking purposes as they tend to be unpleasantly bitter and can spoil a dish. Splitting the cloves with a knife allows the green shoots to be easily pulled clear and discarded.
