I’M indebted to Graeme Riddoch for the following: John Evelyn was an English diarist and gardener who, in 1664, wrote:“Generally all strong and pleasant cider excites and cleanses the Stomach, strengthens Digestion, and infallibly frees the Kidneys and Bladder from breeding the Gravel Stone.” What better recommendation could our cider makers use on their back labels?
