RECENT strong winds have caused many tree branches to become partly broken. They cannot be repaired and it is a mistake to try securing them with splints. The only solution is to completely cut off all the parts of a branch beyond and including the damaged part. If the break is close to a trunk, the entire branch must be removed. Most deciduous trees soon sprout replacement wood.
