Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - BOOKS -

Written and illustrated by Sonia Strong Forty South Publishing, hardcover, $ 19.95 plus postage.

FROM a Tasmanian author/ illustrator comes this charming story of a little native hen ( or “turbo chook”) trying to find her own value and uniqueness.

Tazzie lives in a field near a house where there are lots of animals, each with their own talents and uses. But Tazzie can’t seem to do any of the things these other creatures can do. One night, however, when a cranky old feral cat comes in search of dinner, Tazzie discovers an ability to run like the wind. Told in rhyme and featuring very appealing illustrations, the story introduces some native and domestic animal species to young readers and encourages them to explore the things they can do well or that make them interesting little people.
