SOME plants thrived due to re­cent heavy rains and sat­u­rated soils. These so- called “bog plants” in­clude Siberian irises which not only love these con­di­tions, but grow strongly even in heavy, wet clay. Most pro­duce bright, pur­ple flow­ers but newer cul­ti­vars in­clude sev­eral with blue petals with golden mark­ings. They can be planted any­time, but clumps are best di­vided in late au­tumn.
