TREE ferns soon become badly congested with dead and dying fronds. They burn like a torch and can be particularly dangerous during dry summers if growing close to a house. The fronds are easily cut off close to the main stem and old, neglected plants can be given new life if all fronds are removed. New, healthy fronds appear within weeks.
