THE AGE OF BIG DATA
SBS ONE, 8.30pm
PRETTY much everything we do these days, from a doctor’s appointment to buying Italian take- away food, leaves a data trail. What happens to all this accumulated information? This BBC documentary looks into its many current and possible future uses, from a stockbroker who reckons he can mine data to make millions, to an LAPD experiment to see whether data could forecast crimes that haven’t happened yet. The moral of the story: those who can gather, interpret and put to use data quickest will win the future.
