Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - BOOKS -

Written and illustrated by Mark Wilson ( Lothian, hardcover, $ 24.99)

AUTHOR/ illustrator Mark Wilson has previously tackled the issue of war in his picture books My Mother’s Eyes: The Story of a Boy Soldier, Angel of Kokoda and Vietnam Diary. In his latest book, he turns his attention to Afghanistan and tells the story of a Kinah, an Afghani girl struggling to gain an education, and of a young Australian soldier, far from home and putting his life on the line every day. Their lives are linked by an orphaned puppy who faces his own struggles to survive.

Wilson’s powerful illustrations and poignant story depict the tragedy of war, and how it devastates the lives of everyone it touches. Yet among the rubble, loss and pain, there is still hope and love.
