A STUNNING character study of a woman whose love for her only child is unhealthily unconditional.

Cornelia ( Luminita Gheorghiu) is a sixtysomething socialite who has just learned her son Barbu ( Bogdan Dumitrache) has struck and killed a small boy in a car accident.

Cornelia clinically switches into protective-lioness mode the moment she hears the bad news, exploiting all her powerful connections to ensure Barbu never faces the consequences of what he has done.

Brilliantly played by Gheorghiu, Cornelia is a real piece of work. Don’t try to understand her, but just try to take your eyes off her. Highly recommended to lovers of exemplary world cinema.
