GOOD VIBRATIONS ( MA15+)

Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - MOVIES -

Stars: Liam Cunningham, Jodie Whittaker, Dylan Moran

Director: Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn

AN irresistibly upbeat biopic of Terri Hooley, a colourful Belfast music fan who accidentally started a record company that captured some classic sounds when punk hit Northern Ireland in the 1970s.

Remarkably, the intense political turmoil of the era hasn’t been excised from the story.

In fact, it plays a major role in explaining the glorious release( s) of energy associated with Hooley’s still- revered Good Vibrations label. A charming, rough- house performance from Richard Dormer as the scheming, dreaming Hooley keeps everything on song.
