U-864: HITLER’S LAST DEADLY SECRET

Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - WATCH ON PRESTO -

8.30PM, HISTORY

It was February 1945 when a state-of-the-art German sub carrying missile guidance systems and jet engine parts was sunk by a Royal Navy sub in the North Atlantic. And there it lay for some 60 years, until a recent chance discovery by local fisherman. This doco follows a salvage mission that’s not just about history, but is an ecological imperative. The vessel is full of 60 tons of toxic mercury.
