This children’s film is an absolute triumph on all counts, a work of consummate skill, thought and feeling that ranks with Martin Scorsese’s best. A masterpiece, no less. Set mainly in a railway station in central Paris it follows orphan boy Hugo who lives there in secret, tending to the station’s clocks. A must-see for anyone who loves movies for what they can be, instead of what they may have been.
