DAVIES ROLLS WITH THE PUNCHES

Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - NEWS -

THE characters on Offspring are reeling from the death of patriarch Darcy Proudman (John Waters) and the revelation he had a secret child, Will Bowen (TJ Power). Richard Davies (left), who plays Jimmy Proudman, says his character is one of the most deeply affected by the surprise turn of events.

All of a sudden, he has to cope with the death of his father and the arrival of a half-brother, and there is more pain to come.

Jimmy’s marriage to Zara (Jane Harber) is under mounting strain and he will have to confront some difficult truths about his restaurant’s finances. This season, Jimmy could reach breaking point.

“When we meet Jimmy in season six, he’s under more pressure with work, his relationship and the passing of Darcy and the intro of Will,” Davies says.

“Jimmy loved his dad so much and now there is this gaping hole in his life … now he has got to weather that storm at a time when Zara is busy, they’ve got two little boys and he’s got a floundering business.

“It does in a way [consume him] but he can only push forward because otherwise he’s going to go under.

“We are going to see a different side to Jimmy this season and that is really exciting to play.”
