DRAMA TAYLOR-MADE FOR STONE

Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - NEWS - By Tiffany Dunk

THERE were many things which drew Yael Stone back to Australia to star in four-part drama Deep Water.

And chief among them was co-star Noah Taylor (left, with Stone).

“Obviously I have my Australian film and TV palette set by his face, so it was really exciting to work with somebody like that,” she says of Taylor, who has gone from Aussie films such as The Year My Voice Broke to hits such as Game of Thrones.

Returning from their cult overseas series – Stone is a leading lady in Orange is the New Black – to headline the crime drama, the pair play police partners charged with investigating the murder of a young gay man.

Loosely inspired by events in the ’80s and ’90s in Sydney, Stone says the fact she had no idea of the story was another reason she took the role.

“The fact these things have … gone on within my lifetime in the city I grew up in and I had no idea until now is horrifying,” she says.
