“WHAT’S a way Luke and I can talk rubbish together?” That’s Celia Pacquola’s explanation of how Rosehaven was born.

Pacquola and Luke McGregor (below) met on ABC comedy series Utopia and immediately struck up a friendship.

Between scenes they’d hang out and, in her words, “talk s---”. The end result is a quirky eightpart comedy series set in rural Tasmania.

McGregor plays Daniel, who returns to Rosehaven to help his mother with her real estate business.

Daniel is shocked when best friend Emma (Pacquola) turns up on his doorstep. Emma is meant to be on her honeymoon but has done a runner.

“Luke is from Tasmania so we thought it would be a great place to come to film,” Pacquola says.

The 33-year-old has featured on Offspring and is a regular on Have You Been Paying Attention?.

But this was a chance to spread her wings.

“If someone had written this project and asked me to act in it, I might not have done it,” she says.

“What is new about this is the creative side. Emma is 33 going on 16. She’s in a silly mood all the time.

“Daniel is Luke if he’d never found comedy.” ROSEHAVEN WEDNESDAY, 9PM, ABC
