LAST week’s item was a Flex-A-Tone, a percussive instrument used in everything from classic cartoons to 1920s jazz bands.
On the box of this one from Hobart’s Antiques to Retro it says the item “makes jazz jazzier” — which sounds like a fun twist on an often serious genre of music.
Stew Edwards was the first reader with the correct answer. Dave Keller, Jimmy Heazlewood and Scott Cashion were also spot on the money. Readers also guessed that it was a door jam, metronome or Vibraslap; the latter actually does look pretty similar but is not the same thing.
