Fig trees

Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - GARDENING -

Fig trees produce two crops in Tasmania, the first in late December and January. The second crop is far heavier and the figs can be so overcrowded they rarely develop to an edible size. Thinning right now is essential because it allows the remaining fruit to fully form while temperatures are high. Pick off the smallest leaving just two hanging at each branch tip.
