It’s a per­fect time to plant ra­nun­cu­lus corms. They look like lit­tle, shriv­elled, dead spi­ders, but swell into life if soaked in wa­ter overnight, ready for im­me­di­ate plant­ing into moist, welldrained soil. Planted a few cen­time­tres apart en­sures bril­liant flower dis­plays in Septem­ber.
