TV story: Bold to be shot in Oz.

Aus­tralia may play a star­ring role in the nup­tials of one of the most fa­mous soap opera cou­ples, writes HOLLY BYRNES

WHEN you’ve worked on The Bold and the Beau­ti­ful for 30 years, for­get­ting how many times your char­ac­ter has been mar­ried is ac­cepted as some­thing of an oc­cu­pa­tional haz­ard.

For Katherine Kelly Lang, who has played se­rial bride, Brooke Lo­gan For­rester for all of that time, it’s also a mat­ter of much mirth.

“I’m guess­ing about 10-ish,” she says, “and most of those to [long-time love in­ter­est] Ridge. To be hon­est, I don’t want to know,” she adds, laugh­ing.

Asked to nom­i­nate her favourite spouse can also be both po­lit­i­cal and hys­ter­i­cal.

“That’s hard. I loved them all, of course,” she says with a wink. “I loved the first Ridge [played by Ronn Moss] and I loved the sec­ond Ridge [Thorsten Kaye].”

While she’s re­joiced at be­ing part of one of day­time TV’s most iconic cou­ples, Lang, per­haps con­tro­ver­sially, thinks “the more re­cent sto­ry­line with Bill [Spencer, played by Don Di­a­mont] and how ro­man­tic they are to­gether and bring dif­fer­ent things out in each other ... that’s been good for Brooke. It’s more of a pos­i­tive re­la­tion­ship for her.”

De­voted fans, who have been in­vested in the love lives and pro­fes­sional calami­ties of the For­rester fam­ily of fash­ion de­sign­ers for three decades, will know how such a dec­la­ra­tion of love will play with those still cheer­ing for Brooke and Ridge to tie the knot once again.
