Esposito on the CASE
Despite initial hesitation, Jennifer Esposito hasn’t looked back since joining the cast of the veteran ensemble drama NCIS,
JENNIFER Esposito admits she thought long and hard about joining NCIS after the exit of Michael Weatherly.
The 43-year-old actor, who has had roles in The Affair and Blue Bloods, was hesitant to join the established ensemble – including Mark Harmon and Paulie Perrette – 300 episodes into the series.
While intrigued by the character of Special Agent Alexandra Quinn, she was worried everyone in the cast might be a bit jaded.
But the show’s executive producer Gary Glasberg sold her on the show.
“Gary said, ‘This is the nicest group of people and you’re going to enjoy going to work every day’ and I thought, ‘That makes me happy, we’ll have a great time’,” Esposito said.
Her character joins with baggage, haunted by the death of a police colleague and a romantic history with Gibbs.
Esposito has her own intriguing exfiles: briefly married to actor Bradley Cooper and engaged to Aussie tennis star Philippoussis. Last year she filed for divorce from British model Louis Dowler.
A steady job on a show that has a huge following has been a salve. “NCIS is a part of history and I’m happy to be part of it. When I was a young actor I was always looking for what’s the next job. I’m making sure I enjoy this moment.”
