Local food: Our picks of some of the best vegie burgers in town
You don’t have to be vegetarian to appreciate a good vegie burger... here’s our pick of the most flavourful and satisfying options going round
The Brisbane Hotel
The Brisbane Hotel knows how to do a seriously good vegie burger and with six on the menu, you know there will be something to tickle your fancy. Try the Shamburger (at just $10), an entirely vegan hamburger but using a textured vegetable protein, onion, chilli and spices.

Burger Got Soul
This Sandy Bay mainstay has been serving up the burger goods for years now and they certainly have the vegie burger down pat. Pick from either the Mind, Body and Soul, the Rise ‘n’ Shine or the You Gotta Have Soul – priced from $14.50 – for delicious innovative flavours.
160 Sandy Bay Rd, Sandy Bay
This new North Hobart plant-based eatery is doing things a little differently with their colourful burger offerings. Their classic vegie burger (priced at $14.50) comes with a pink beetroot bun, black bean and beetroot pattie, lettuce, tomato, red onion, house-made cheese sauce and sriracha aioli.

The Burger Haus
Burger Haus is not one of those joints where they rely solely on meat– they’ve also put in extra effort in getting the vegie burgers just right. Get in and try the Sweet Potato Head ($13.50) for an all vegie experience with a honey-brown mushroom for the pattie, roasted sweet potato, carmamelised onion, rocket, and haus made vegan pesto. 364A Elizabeth St, North Hobart
