Prickly Hakea

Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - GARDENING -

Among the toughest of all winterflowering Australian plants is the Prickly Hakea (H. sericea). This remarkable, drought-resistant shrub grows about 1.5m high and wide, makes a perfect, animal-proof hedge and fills the garden with a sweet honey-like fragrance from great masses of attractive, spider flowers. Can be planted now and thrives in the most impoverished soil.
