Sugarloaf cabbage

Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - GARDENING -

The best cabbages for late winter and spring is the sweet, conical Sugarloaf and the big, dimple-leaf savoy varieties. Both tend to develop burst heads following heavy rain but this - though unsightly - makes them even more nutritious. Only seedlings can go in now and they must be very small and planted into perfectly-drained, enriched soil. Tough old seedlings always bolt uselessly to seed in winter.
