If you fancy a spec­tac­u­lar, springflow­er­ing shrub think se­ri­ously about pur­chas­ing a retic­u­lata camel­lia. The flower-heads are enor­mous, of­ten caus­ing the slen­der branches to bend with the weight. Th­ese eas­ily-grown plants thrive in Tas­ma­nia, are re­sis­tant to most dis­eases – in­clud­ing blos­som ‘stain­ing’ - and can be planted now for a late-win­ter or spring dis­play. They even grow in full sun.
