Heavy frosts

Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - GARDENING -

It’s the time of heavy frosts and this can be an enormous advantage with some plants. Swedes and kale definitely taste sweeter after a good chilling, but certain cabbages such as Verona Purple Savoy - probably the best tasting variety - actually become more nutritious, even if almost frozen solid. The good news is that seeds can be sown now in flats or punnets for planting out in August and great eating by late November.
