What Is It?:

Just try and get a handle on this one

Sunday Tasmanian - Tassie Living - - LOCAL FOOD -

Just try and get an angle on this one

This week our mystery item comes from Carl Jackson of Archive Antiques in New Town.

At first glance you would be forgiven for thinking you are looking at a bottle of black nail polish.

Used in the 1950s and 60s by one of the most important trades in the world, this gadget fits in the palm of your hand.

If you look closely you may see a window along the side.

The silver metal tube may be a handle – but which way up do you think it goes?

A person can do the job just as well without it although this little device gives a stronger measure of accuracy.

If you think you know what it is please send in your answers and stories to tassieliving@news.com.au

See you next weekend.
