If you live near the coast or in any windy, dry soil district, the hairy-leaf plants do best, even in drought-prone re­gions. All Ver­bas­cum species and va­ri­eties thrive through bone-dry sum­mers with V. bom­by­ciferum — quite a mouth­ful — be­ing par­tic­u­larly re­silient, beau­ti­ful and loved by bees.
