What Is It?:

Comb through your ideas

You’ll need to comb through your ideas to guess this one

This week’s What Is It? item from The Drill Hall in New Norfolk vaguely resembles a dust pan.

However, this tool from the early 1900s would do well to hold dust as the flat end consists of long, thin teeth with narrow gaps between.

It has a single handle, but similar devices were often used while secured to a bench.

It was designed for use with an agricultural material to create another material and most people would own at least one of the resulting products.

The earliest trace of the industry in which this device was used was about 4000 years ago.
