UK chef dips out on Tassie min­istry

CELEBRITY chef Jamie Oliver’s Min­istry of Food has de­cided against ap­ply­ing for funds un­der the Healthy Tas­ma­nia strat­egy.

The UK star’s Aus­tralian rep­re­sen­ta­tive, The Good Foun­da­tion, told the Sun­day Tas­ma­nian last year it was keen to help ad­dress the state’s obe­sity problem by seek­ing a grant un­der the State Govern­ment scheme.

Ap­pli­ca­tions for the pro­gram’s Com­mu­nity In­no­va­tion Grants closed on Friday.

The Good Foun­da­tion chief ex­ec­u­tive Feli­cia Mar­i­ani said the $25,000 cap on grants made a Min­istry of Food kitchen un­fea­si­ble.
