Fitter Jelena takes to the court

Sunday Tasmanian - - News -

TENNIS champ Jelena Dokic has dropped 30kg and returned to the court, dreaming of making a professional comeback.

The former world No. 4, who retired in 2013, has been enjoying practising as she regains her fitness after her dramatic weight loss.

Dokic, 34, who has also been battling health issues, will make a final decision on a return to the professional tour later this year. While she is focused on regaining fitness for health reasons, she also admits she has wondered if she could compete at the top again.

“You can never say never,” she said. “But I am not practising with the intent to get back on tour right now. I am practising and hitting balls for my own enjoyment and health at the moment.”

Dokic was a teen prodigy, making the quarter-finals of Wimbledon at 16 and the semifinals at 17. Injuries ended her career in 2013.
