El­ton ready to rocket into town

MU­SIC leg­end Sir El­ton John will per­form in Wol­lon­gong tonight, be­fore his Once In A Life­time na­tional tour brings him to Ho­bart this week for the first time in nearly 30 years.

One of the most ac­claimed and high­est-sell­ing artists in his­tory, Sir El­ton has sold more than 250 mil­lion al­bums. He has re­leased 57 top-40 hit sin­gles in the US — sec­ond only to Elvis Pres­ley — in­clud­ing clas­sics such as Can­dle in the Wind, Your Song, Rocket Man, Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me, Daniel, I’m Still Stand­ing and Crocodile Rock.

Sir El­ton per­formed in Launce­s­ton in 2007 and again in 2012, but has not ap­peared in the state’s South since he played two con­certs at the Der­went En­ter­tain­ment Cen­tre in Fe­bru­ary 1990.

Per­form­ing iconic hits from through­out his long ca­reer, Sir El­ton John and his band play at the DEC from 7.30pm this Wed­nes­day and Thurs­day.
