FOOT ON THE GAS FOR AUSSIE NEEDS

Sunday Tasmanian - - Letters -

IF Australia’s total gas production is higher than our total domestic requirement, I don’t see a shortage.

Our needs should be fulfilled before we export. Our economy and employment come first.

Looking around for new gas resources probably won’t fix the situation, as more will be exported.

A gas tax on exporters until our needs are satisfied should be considered. With all of our major oil refineries now shut, we are totally reliant on imports from Singapore and other sources, so it’s about time the Federal Government looked after Australia’s needs first.
