Spooky plan for trash and treasure
TASMANIANS are being urged to host a garage sale in October to rehome unwanted items, whether they’ve been hording household appliances or Halloween horrors.
The Garage Sale Trail is a weekend-long event offering people the chance to de-clutter and find a home for their preloved items, meet neighbours and earn extra cash or raise money for local causes.
The trail aims to help educate Australians about the importance of taking responsibility for the waste they generate.
Almost 1500 garage sales are expected to be held in Tasmania on the weekend of October 20-21.
Margaret Samuel, of Shearwater, is having a Halloween-themed sale.
“I’ll be selling some things, trying to raise funds for ramps for our future accommodation for people with disabilities,” Mrs Samuel said.
Mrs Samuel has plenty of items to sell.
“My husband was born on the 31st, so we’ve collected lots of quirky things along the way, so we’ll be selling quite a bit of Halloween things,” she said.
