Euro­vi­sion sparkle for Gold Coast

THE Gold Coast has beaten Syd­ney and Mel­bourne to host our first Euro­vi­sion na­tional se­lec­tion show, in which the pub­lic will vote for Aus­tralia’s en­try in the 2019 Euro­vi­sion Song Con­test.

It will be held on Fe­bru­ary 9 and will al­low the pub­lic to se­lect our en­trant af­ter the likes of Guy Se­bas­tian, Dami Im and Jes­sica Mauboy were se­lected to rep­re­sent Aus­tralia by SBS and mu­sic la­bel Sony.

De­spite con­jec­ture about Aus­tralia’s fu­ture in­volve­ment in the con­test, SBS and pro­duc­tion part­ner Blink TV con­firmed Aus­tralia had been granted en­try to the con­test in Is­rael in May.

It fol­lows the lead of a num­ber of coun­tries, which host an­nual se­lec­tion shows.

SBS and Blink TV will cre­ate a short list of songs and pair them with se­lected artists for the pub­lic to vote on.
