Eurovision sparkle for Gold Coast
THE Gold Coast has beaten Sydney and Melbourne to host our first Eurovision national selection show, in which the public will vote for Australia’s entry in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest.
It will be held on February 9 and will allow the public to select our entrant after the likes of Guy Sebastian, Dami Im and Jessica Mauboy were selected to represent Australia by SBS and music label Sony.
Despite conjecture about Australia’s future involvement in the contest, SBS and production partner Blink TV confirmed Australia had been granted entry to the contest in Israel in May.
It follows the lead of a number of countries, which host annual selection shows.
SBS and Blink TV will create a short list of songs and pair them with selected artists for the public to vote on.
