WILL Hodg­man reck­ons that cap­ping tourist num­bers to iconic spots will harm Tas­ma­nia. Does he not see that erect­ing con­crete mono­liths in front of iconic sites to ac­com­mo­date more and more tourists will ir­re­versibly harm Tas­ma­nia?

The build­ing pro­posed for the Dove Lake carpark to ac­com­mo­date hun­dreds of vis­i­tors ev­ery hour will ruin what is one of the world’s most beau­ti­ful sights. What is so wrong with re­tain­ing our iden­tity and say­ing “no’’ to over-tourism? Yvonne Stark Bat­tery Point
