Drivers nabbed
FOURTEEN drivers were caught with blood alcohol levels between .08 and .15 in a police crackdown overnight Friday.
Duty Superintendent Louise Jorgensen said 10 drivers were also apprehended with breath alcohol levels under .08 — some of whom were learner drivers.
She said one person tested positive for drug driving, while nine vehicles were found defective and nine were unregistered.
‘‘The results were disappointing and the courts will be busy over the next month determining appropriate penalties for the significant number of drinkdrivers apprehended.
‘‘Our aim . . . is not to raise revenue for the Government or to monster easy targets but to reduce the number of injuries and deaths on the road, to educate the public and to make the community safer.’’
