DARWIN’S Buddhist temple is set to open its doors to the public as it puts on its biannual International Food Fair today.
The free event will showcase the wide range of cultures of people who practise Buddhism. Food available to purchase includes Vietnamese, Burmese, Sri Lankan, Thai and Chinese.
Buddhist society public officer Kumi Bali said the funds raised from the event help to keep the temple running.
“The public love coming. It’s very different to what you get in the shops,” she said.
All the food on offer will be donated by members in the Buddhist community.
The temple’s resident monk Bhante Seelarathana will open the festival with a prayer and chant.
