Election theft case dropped
PROSECUTORS have withdrawn charges against a senior public servant charged with stealing CLP election corflutes during last year’s Territory election.
Ronald Greaves, a senior official in the Education Department, appeared in Darwin Local Court in January charged with stealing.
It is understood Greaves removed a corflutes near his house belonging to CLP candidate Giovanna Webb.
The charges were withdrawn Thursday morning, before a hearing began. The
Sunday Territorian understands prosecutors withdrew the charge after reviewing the legislation and concluding Greave’s alleged actions likely did not constitute an offence.
