Sunday Territorian - - FRONTIER - Palmerston Pictures: KATRINA BRIDGEFORD

Crowds of all ages turned out to commemorate Anzac Day in Palmerston on Tuesday.

From little ones proudly clutching bright red poppies to war veterans and serving defence personnel, the event saw residents join together to remember and honour the sacrifice made by thousands of Australian and New Zealand soldiers.

Anzac Day marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand troops in World War I, at Gallipolli in Turkey. More than 8000 soldiers died in the battle.
