Quinella great thrill for Connor

Sunday Territorian - - SPORT -

HE WAS in front when they jumped, and he was still in front at the finish.

That’s the tale of the tape with the Greg Connor-trained Nordic Eclipse (Brendon Davis) taking out the B & S Home Timber Handicap (1200m) at Pioneer Park yesterday.

To top things off, Connor had an additional reason to celebrate as stablemate Iceflow (Stephen Ridler) came second.

Punters expected the Connor pair to feature prominently in the outcome of the race as well with Iceflow the $3 favourite and Nordic Eclipse the second elect at $4.60.

“It’s a nice surprise and I’m very happy to land the quinella,” Connor said.

Hussars (Simone Altieri) and Bel’s Lad (Barry Huppatz) gave Nordic Eclipse a run for his money before falling away.
