Mu­se­ums told to raise hand for cash

AP­PLI­CA­TIONS for $285,000 worth of grants for re­gional mu­se­ums are now open.

Tourism Min­is­ter Lauren Moss said the in­vest­ment in mu­se­ums would cre­ate jobs and keep com­mu­ni­ties vi­brant.

“A to­tal of $285,000 in fund­ing is avail­able to as­sist re­gional mu­se­ums, keep­ing places and com­mu­nity art gal­leries to de­velop pro­grams, dis­plays, man­age their col­lec­tions, ac­quire rel­e­vant skills for the ben­e­fit and en­joy­ment of res­i­dents and visi­tors to the Northern Ter­ri­tory,” she said.

“The Re­gional Mu­se­ums Grant Sup­port Pro­gram has been avail­able an­nu­ally since 1997 and we recog­nise the im­por­tance of these cen­tres in pre­serv­ing and telling the sto­ries of the Northern Ter­ri­tory’s cul­ture for visi­tors to the Ter­ri­tory and fu­ture gen­er­a­tions.”
