Revitalised Ilett ‘ready to rock and roll’ after injury
NIGHTCLIFF will again be without key utility Cameron Ilett for today’s NTFL match against Wanderers at PSC BM Oval.
Ilett has not played since the Round 13 win over his old side St Mary’s, a match remembered for opponent Nathaniel Paredes’ crunching tackle on the second-year Tiger.
“I’m feeling fresh and ready to rock and roll. I just need to get a couple of things cleared before I play again,’’ Ilett told the Sunday Territorian.
“It’s been a good break freshening up mentally and physically, even though I’ve been training with the group. I reckon I’ll be back for the last (home and away) game against Districts.’’
Ilett will watch the Wan- derers match from the coaches’ box and he expects the young Eagles to throw everything bar the Mabel Griffin scoreboard at his side.
“It’s certainly a game we’re not taking lightly with some quality footballers in their side and the young players putting six or seven games of senior footy on their resume,’’ he added.
“Obviously they’re growing in confidence every game as can be seen by their fantastic win over the Buffaloes last week.
“So we certainly see the match as a bit of a danger game and with that comes a lot of respect for Wanderers footy club, their coach and their players.’’
The Tigers have a similar look to the side that beat Palmerston last week.
Trent Melville and Hugo Drogemuller up forward and their “Four Musketeers’’ down back in Nathan Brown, Simon Deery, Daniel Bowles and Kaine Riley will again be assigned major roles as Nightcliff hunts for win No.14 this season.
Wanderers get key defender Daniel Weetra back to take Melville in front of the Nightcliff goals, while former North Melbourne goalkicker Shannon Motlop also comes into the side.
