All welcome for annual celebration at St Mark’s
ALL Creatures Great and Small: Blessing of the animals as come to be a well known service at St Mark’s Anglican Church.
Whether they are furred, finned or feathered, all animals are welcomed to the short service.
The afternoon will be held on Sunday, October 1 from 3pm at St Mark’s Anglican Church, Main Street, Buderim and will also include a barbecue.
It is held as part of the St Mark’s celebrations of the feast day of St Francis of Assisi and to give thanks for the gifts that companion emails bring into people’s lives. The Feast of St Francis of Assisi is celebrated by numerous Catholic and Anglican churches around Australia, with some animal societies also hosting special fundraising and awareness events that combine the Feast of St Francis of Assisi with World Animal Day on October 4.
St Francis founded the Catholic Church’s Franciscan order and is remembered for his generosity to the poor and his love for animals and nature.
