Mountain bike expo gets riders in gear
Community inspired to get involved with unique sport
MOUNTAIN biking is fast becoming the sport of choice for many in the Sunshine Coast community.
The Caloundra Off Road Cycling Association have high hopes this will only continue to grow, supporting this phenomenon with the very first mountain biking expo this October 22.
President of the Association Steve
Ossedryver said he is hoping for upwards of 300 people to attend the event which forms part of the Coast’s 50th anniversary of the naming of the Sunshine Coast.
“We launched the club a few years ago and it was quite successful so we thought we’d have an expo,” he said.
“The main thing is we want to showcase mountain biking to the community.
“They can come and get a free bike to hire, with free instructions.”
Mr Ossedryver said he hopes the expo will promote further development of the Sugar Bag Rd trails.
The event will showcase mountain biking to the community, with opportunities for beginners to use a free hire bike, free professional skills instruction and to take guided tours around the local trails.
There will be displays, competitions, lucky door prizes an exhibition of retro and vintage bikes, workshops for bike repair and maintenance and fitness for mountain biking, a buy/sell/swap section and awesome food and coffee available.
The Association is encouraging existing mountain bikers and join in for a ride and have their bike securely valet parked while you enjoy the displays, demo bikes and the great food and coffee at this great event.
